Get the right rod with the right length To get the best out of your casting experience, ensure that your rod is of perfect length. The perfect length is one that will allow you to place the rod under your arm, tipped at the armpit as you throw the hook. This will greatly lift the loop and the speed of the cast. If you master the trick of a tight loop and high casting speed, you are moving in right direction. Use small bait Small bait not only makes it easier for you to throw because it has less friction with the wind, but is also helpful because it has less inertia. Less friction with the wind will mean that you will cast at faster speeds. Again, the fact that it will have less inertia means that you’ll be able to see the bait just before it hits the water. This will help increase your accuracy and enable you to caster further. Pull the rod’s butt rather than pushing it The greatest mistake many people make while doing the long cast is to forget the importance of basic techniques. If you usually cast by pushing the rod towards the water, try pulling the butt of the rod. This might seem difficult at first if you are not used to it, but it is worth it. Lift your rod so that it lies horizontally on your right hand with the butt pointing towards the water. Place your left hand on the butt of the rod.
